The Citibabes Play Space was designed by Falcon Perspectives Inc., a full service exhibition design, and fabrication company. They are part of the team that in cooperation with the Children's Museum Of Manhattan produced The Peanuts Exhibition, Dr. Seuss, Art Inside Out, Dora the Explorer and the Monkey King exhibitions.
Through their extensive experience they have created a fun, interactive playground for Citibabes., where safety is the primary concern. It is visually stimulating and provides opportunities for cooperative, fun, open ended play, but above all else, it is safe.
The Play Space includes:
- The Citibabes treehouse is a large two tiered structure that stretches up some 12 feet high toward a foliage like canopy and is a main feature of the playspace. Children run up low padded stairs to a platform that houses a secluded hideaway clubhouse. The sides of the club house have large colored plexi glass covered portals so that the occupants feel as if they are in a private place but moderators maintain a clear view.
- A magnet activity is along another wall and is covered with a colorful graphic. The activity is large enough for several children to participate and cooperate with each other to create their own scenes using large, easy to hold, lightweight, custom manufactured magnets.
- An infant area enclosed by a low upholstered wall is placed directly in front of the supervisor station. Stimulating interactives are built into the walls of the maze like structure which contains upholstered ramps and tunnels. The space is perfect for the crawling group and keeps them somewhat separate from the more rambunctious older groups.
- For more fine motor activity we provide a building blocks area which is also enclosed so that manipulatives are controlled. Several different types of blocks are offered from large padded ones to the classic wooden pieces.
- A large role play area is included in the design as well as a vehicle, both of which allow children hours of imaginative play.
