Philosophy

Citibabes takes an integrative approach to teaching and learning as it combines the best theories and practices from both traditional and more progressive teaching methodologies. We understand that each child is unique and learns in a different way, thus our programs are designed to provide experiential learning moments carefully planned and guided by professionals in the field of early childhood education. We believe that children grow and develop the most when there is a strong connection between home and school. We welcome parent involvement and there will be many opportunities to get involved in the classroom at CitiSchool.

Our teachers all possess strong backgrounds in early childhood education and the arts, bringing a uniquely creative and artistic aptitude to their classroom practices. Promoting the cognitive, social, physical and emotional growth and well-being of young children is our primary goal, therefore we encourage children to engage in meaningful learning through play, real-world experiences, and child centered activities that are both fun and educational.

Every program at CitiSchool follows student to teacher ratios that are significantly lower than the standard in New York City. We cap enrollment in our 2s and 3s programs at 12-16 students with 3 teachers and our 4s program caps at 15 students with 3 teachers. These small class sizes and low ratios allow for more individualized attention for each child in the class and gives our amazing teachers an opportunity to really get to know each of their students.

Our 2s, 3s, and 4s programs incorporate a daily 30 minute music and movement class which is led by our professionally trained musicians. CitiSchool 3s, 4s and 5s spend 3 hours a week in Culinary Arts, Physical Arts, Yoga, and Scientific Arts.
